Don’t forget the new car seat law
The Play Library provide a useful summary of the new laws about children’s car seats which come into force on Monday.
Basically, any child under 135cm or under 12 will be required to wear a car seat. However the exemptions are a little confusing. No car seats are required in taxis or on unexpected short journeys or where due to the fact that there are already 2 car seats a third can’t be fitted.
Good luck to anyone doing a school run - everyone’s interpretation is bound to be different.
If you want to find out more then have a look at Childcarseats.org.uk. Car seats are only safe if they are fitted correctly. Some shops will check that your car seat is fitted correctly (even if it is not bought from them). One such shop is Lilliput but you will find a full list on the Childseats.org.uk website.
