This site will look much better in a browser that supports web standards, but it is accessible to any browser or Internet device.

    Online Resource for Parents

Little Legends has been given a great review on page 67 of issue 170 Webuser Magazine :)

Little Legends is an online resource for parents. It’s designed to help them discover resources for children around the country - from finding childcare and nurseries to learning about days out and family-friendly restaurants.

In addition to a great clean look, the site benefits from an advanced search facility using Google Maps, making it easy to home in on local events and services. Vicky Wood and her brother Piers have done an excellent job of putting together a truly valuable website. Not only are there pages themselves incredibly useful, but there are numerous links to other blogs and sites that could be of interest to parents.

    Parents Prefer Private School

According to a new survey by Reader’s Digest of 565 parents, a whopping 59% would move their children out of the state system to be educated privately if they had the money. This is in sharp contrast to a survey ten years ago which found that 61% of parents thought comprehensive schools catered well for children of all abilities.

So what are your local schools like? Would you choose private schools over state if you could?

Enjoy the Cinema with your Toddler/Baby

Did you know that many cinemas run special early showings for parents with young children? For obvious reasons these showings are often called “The Big Scream”. It is a great way for parents to relax in front of the screen and indulge in a bit of hollywood escapism. The best bit is that they turn up the volume so no one minds if your kid cries!

We have numerous cinemas listed on our site so why not find out if your local one runs a similar event. If so, perhaps you could let us know the details so everyone can benefit. Here is a good example.

    Share Your Favourite Childhood Haunts

So where did you hang out when you were a kid? Why not share the places you used to like going as a kid by adding them to Little Legends (just sign in, go to your user page and click on Add a Place in the top right)

Piers and I were brought up in Oxford, and some of the best places I remember are:

Port Meadow - a wonderful water meadow
Aristotle Lane - a popular local playground
Pitt Rivers Museum - an eccentric museum with some weird exhibits
Cherwell Boat House - the best place to go to hire a punt
Brown’s - a great family place to eat

    First Carnival of British Parents

Welcome to the first Carnival of British Parents. Today, we have on offer the following select articles:

LittleMummy Discusses The Age of Crimininal Responsibility by Erica at LittleMummy.com

Tomato Sauce? - I Guess Not by Amanda at The Good, The Bad & The Mischief

Forward Planning by Beta Mum at Keir Royale

Would you like a freebie? by Vicky at ManicMama

Unfortunately the other entries were not from British parents and so do not meet the submission criteria.

Well, that concludes this edition. Thanks to everyone who took part. I think it is a pretty good effort for a brand new carnival :)
