Finding out what UK parent bloggers are saying

It hasn’t been particularly easy finding British parents who blog. Last May, Vicky

“was beginning to wonder where all the UK parent blog activity is.”

And that’s a shame, because reading what others have to say is at least half the fun. [British Parent Bloggers is doing sterling work to rectify this, of course!]

Anyway, I thought one things that could make the process easier is for us to share our subscriptions in a way that others can easily access. And here it is: our OPML file

    New: Carnival of British Parents

Seeing as there are a growing number of British parent bloggers I thought it would be a good idea to start a Carnival just for us :)

For those of you who don’t know what a blog carnival is, it is a type of blog event, dedicated to a specific topic. The host asks readers to submit relevant articles and then publishes links to them on a regular basis.

If you want to join in, all you have to do is send in a link to your best post about life as a parent in the UK. All links must be sent to me using this form. Only one submission per blog will be accepted.

    British Parent Bloggers

A huge thanks and vote of encouragement should go to Erica and David. They’ve been working hard on a great idea: BritishParentBloggers.com.

    Why such a good idea?

Well for one, at the start of the year when Vicky and I kicked off Little Legends, we found it very hard to get a sense of what British parents were blogging about. In fact it was tricky to even find Brit parents with blogs. We definitely had a few evenings wondering whether it was something US parents did, but either hadn’t or wouldn’t make it over here. So I’m very much looking forward to seeing how this community-driven project develops.

    The Blogroll is growing …

… thanks to the new British Parent Bloggers ring, I have discovered more parents in the UK who blog and they have been added to the blogroll. The newcomers are in no particular order:

    Wednesday’s Child
I wanted to be a homedad; I got one fifth of my wish. Here is the consequence…

    Jo Beaufoix
A laid back blog by 30-something mum and would-be writer, Jo Beaufoix, who tries to look at the world through rose-tinted glasses but often finds they’re covered in something sticky.

    New UK Parents Blog Ring

Erica, of Little Mummy fame, has recently contacted me to tell me that she is setting up a new blog ring for british parent bloggers.

The aim of the ring is:

to find other british based bloggers, for us to find more like minded people and increase our community

If you are interested then read her blog post here.

    The criteria for joining are:

    a) Blogging regularly on a topic that relates to parenting (others will be accepted on a case by case basis, ie splogs and spammers need not apply)

    b) A Parent

    New Additions to the Blogroll

Life has been pretty busy here at Little Legends recently. I have managed to connect with several other UK Mums who are busy running their own businesses and as a result I have found some more UK Parent blogs:

Chelltune - a great place to find out about Sign Language for Babies and Children:

The Southbank, Summer Safety Tips and Funny T-shirt

Emma Mahony, writes at the Times Alpha Mummy blog about how the Southbank has gone kidtastic. So, if you are in London this summer, that is the place to hang out with the kids.

Over at the Family Relationships blog you can find out the five essential summer safety tips that every parent should know.

Finally, manicmama (aka me!) found a t-shirt with the wartime slogan “Keep calm and carry on” that could also be a popular mantra for parents.

    Sharing the Love

To my surprise, this blog has turned out to be extremely popular :) So, I have decided it is time to share a bit of that love around by creating a new category called UK Parent Bloggers. Posts in this category will have links to the most useful, interesting and entertaining posts by bloggers in the UK on anything to do with parenthood.

If you want to let me know about your blog, then just join the UK Parent Bloggers Group

Hooray - more UK parent blogs discovered!

I was beginning to wonder where all the UK parent blog activity is. Us Brits are definitely some way behind the USA in terms of blogging. Anyway, I have recently discovered some more UK blogs, thanks to following one of the links on Mother at Large.

If you are reading this because I have linked to you, please have a look at the main website and let me know what you think! All feedback is appreciated :)
